It has a white protective film over the stainless steel 'feeding tray'...remove it...(protection in shipping). It has thickness dials that have to EYEBALLED...match R+L to get it even. Unit CAN NOT 'sit' in water...its base is particle board. ASK QUESTIONS BEFORE BUYING.
